How do I export my journal entries or site data?

Last Updated: Apr 06, 2012 11:08AM EDT

Squarespace provides you with a number of methods for exporting and backing up your content. Each journal on your site can be exported in an MT compatible format, which can be imported to most all blog systems on the web.

You can export your journal content directly in the configuration for your journal page. In the configuration screen, scroll down to the "Data Export" section and click to export data there. See this guide for accessing your page configuration.

Note: Tags are not added to the export file and will not be imported with your entries.

You can also create a backup of your site data, from [Website Management > Data & Media > Data Snapshots]. Click the button on that page to create snapshot. When this is complete, your XML file will be listed directly in the Data Snapshots tab, which you can download from your site.

Note: There is no setting to revert to a site snapshot or import this into another Squarespace site. This is meant for data export only.
