Registering Domains With Squarespace
If you have signed up for an Annual or Bi-Yearly plan option, you are eligible to register one free custom domain for use with your Squarespace site. You can register your domain at any time, directly from the [Website Management > Structure > Custom Domain] within your Squarespace site. See this guide for more information about registering a custom domain with Squarespace.
Using Your Own Domain Host
If you already own a domain, you will make domain record changes in your provider's DNS Management interface in order to link that domain with your Squarespace site.
STEP 1: Change the DNS records within your host provider's interface to point your domain to Squarespace using the C-Name and A@host record settings. We've created the following guides to help make this process as simple as possible:
STEP 2: Login to your Squarespace website. Navigate to the [Website Management > Structure > Custom Domain] area and click the Link Domain option to link your domain to your Squarespace site.

STEP 3: Add your custom domain to the domain URL field in the Link Domain screen.

STEP 4: You will see your domain appear in the Custom Domain area of your site immediately. However, the domain will not resolve until your host provider has updated the DNS on their end to reflect your domain changes. Note that providers vary and DNS updates can take from a few hours to a few days depending on your host.
If your domain has been properly mapped on your host provider's side you will see it successfully resolve in the Custom Domain area once they update the DNS — as in the example shown below.

If your domain is not properly mapped or your provider is using incorrect DNS settings, you will see a notification displayed in the Custom Domain area to alert you of this. You will need to log into your domain host to verify their settings and make any adjustments necessary.

You can also use these steps to check your domain set up at any time, or reference this FAQ for more information about managing domains in Squarespace.
Need More Help?Note: The domains used in our tutorials are sample domains for demonstration purposes. You'll need to enter your actual domain name in the appropriate fields to correctly claim that domain within your Squarespace site.
