Much of the content editing in Squarespace is done via pop-up windows called WYSIWYG editors. WYSIWYG (pronounced wi-zee-wig) is an acronym for What You See Is What You Get. Basically it converts common writing styles into HTML - so you don't have to learn another language to build web content.
This is an example of what a WYSIWYG editor window looks like (this one is for adding/modifying journal posts):

The common WYSIWYG elements have been highlighted. The controls allow you to insert files (images, videos, etc.) format your text, create lists, spell check, undo/redo changes, etc. If you have ever used Microsoft Word or any other text editor, you should already be familiar with these functions. If you would like more of a guided tour of any features, do a simple search in the manual and you should find a simple explanation (for example, try searching "How do I insert an image?").
